Basic Landing Page Guidelines - What's a Landing Page?

What in the world is a Landing Page? As an affiliate marketer you will hear a lot about landing pages aka Sales Pages. You mostly need a landing page if you can not use your affiliate link directly in an affiliate marketing article or anywhere else; or if you have your own product to promote. But we are going to stick with the affiliate marketing point of view for now. The type of landing page we are talking about is a transactional page in which persuades the viewers to act now; converting into a sale now or in the future. There are two basic types under this category a review page and a testimonial page that are used very often; the review page usually converts more than the testimonial page. But all in all they both work!

Basic Guidelines For A Review Page

1. A brief description of the products.

2. Product Ranking #1,#2,#3 in vertical order starting with #1.

3. Use product images and other images related to your niche.

4. You need to have multiple exits to you merchant page (Image, Title, Buy Now Link)

Basic Guidelines For A Testimonial Page

1. Page needs to be written in the first person tense

2. How this product would improve their life?

3. Any risks involved?

4. Selling points to the product.

5. Why the potential customer would buy?

6. Why would they be hesitating to buy?

An landing page in short description is a single web page inside a website in which most of your traffic is directed to by a link you provided. And that landing page is directed to your merchant through your affiliate links. A landing page can offer a product, review and up sell your affiliate marketing products in a customized perspective. When creating an affiliate marketing landing page, you need to give the customer exactly what they are looking for in order to convert into sales.

Another goal of an landing page is to collect information about you such as you email address for future sales and to keep you updated on the product, as well to give you the free information they are offering. If your landing is constructed well then you will have not problem converting viewers into sales.

If you consider using an landing page, you should create a page for each affiliate marketing product you promote unless its upgrades the product. You want to keep your landing page uncluttered and simple to avoid confusion and frustration from your traffic or they will go somewhere else. When you start building your landing page you will also want to optimize for keywords so the search engines rank that page well.

On a closing thought, remember if you use landing pages keep it short and simple because nobody likes to continue scrolling down to the bottom of page for 10 minutes. An optimized landing page should sell your product within the first 10 seconds, other than that you are wasting your time!
